Grape variety Nebbiolo 100% Vineyards Our family-owned vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba (Ornato, La Serra and Briccolina), Grinzane Cavour (Gustava and Garretti), La Morra (Roncaglie), Novello (Ravera) and, since the 2015 vintage, our recently acquired vineyard in Monforte (Mosconi). This wine has been always and traditionally produced by our Family with grapes coming from. 2 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and holiday home for rent in Monforte d'Alba, Italy. A quick glance at the Barolos from Serralunga is like a who’s who honor roll of this wine type. The famed Francia cru, situated in the far southwestern reaches of Serralunga is the source for two great Barolos from Giacomo Conterno; the Cascina Francia and the legendary “Monfortino”, sourced from the finest grapes of the vineyard and made only in the greatest vintages. Vineyards

From a small selection of “nebbioli” from our Family-owned vineyards of Cascina Ornato in Serralunga d’Alba, one of the most historical and prestigious areas of the entire Barolo region very well known for great structure, tannins, freshness and longevity.

Vinification

In stainless steel tanks at high temperatures.
Maceration for 30 days.

Ageing

In large oak “botti” for about 30 months; a small amount in French oak barriques for the first 12 months.

Notes

The very first Single Vineyard Barolo produced by the Pio Family, for the first time in 1985.
Great structure, power, concentration, with a very long life. Produced in small quantities.
